Focus on addiction, lose the recovery
When I focus on recovery, I use the tool of the action plan and keep a list of recovery oriented actions that I do everyday to keep my mind and emotions in a healthy space. It’s not just thinking about doing these things, it’s the doing of these things everyday.
If I focus on the addiction, I dovetail into depression, guilt, anger, and resentment over myself and others. Then I spiral into my addictive substance or behavior, and if I manage to keep out of it through willpower, the battlefield of the mind reigns for that day.
I’m tired of that battle. I tap out and focus on the principles of this program. Trusting my Higher Power and the 12 Steps to the results. In this I find peace and serenity for today.
