I always looked at making an action plan as something to have when the desire to cater to the addiction kicks in. Things like, I can call someone, I can take a bath, I can take a walk. Things like that…

What I have come to believe is also true is that the action plan is proactive, and things to do everyday to stay in fit spiritual condition. Using the tools everyday so that the compulsive behavior does not kick in.

It’s not just “If I get the compulsion, then I call a friend and go for a walk.”

It’s also….

“If I use the 9 tools of recovery throughout the day, then I have sanity FOR TODAY.”
